The space between life and death

Wake up

This isn’t a dream

This isn’t yesterday

It’s just an ordinary day

You see the smiles on the children’s faces

Do you hear the laughs of their inside jokes

Do you see the clouds moving ever so slightly to the internal clocks of space and time

Everyone is doing just fine

They don’t know somewhere in the world something has gone amiss

Yes, today is an ordinary day

Except it isn’t for you

You’ve lost someone

They’ve left you to sort out the world on your own

They took chunks of your heart as a souvenir for their afterlife

There is nowhere to even begin to even comprehend how to put back the pieces that have been stolen

Today is just an ordinary day

Except you aren’t you anymore

You are the regurgitate self

Haphazardly put back together after someone you love has died

Nothing seems to fit in the right places anymore

Today is just an ordinary day

I’m certain if I say it enough times it will come true

Today is an ordinary day

Today is an ordinary day

Today is….
